1965 Chevelle
The 65 Chevy Chevelle originally appeared in the fall of 1964. Nicely developed the 2nd edition A-body SS Super Sport featured a revised chassis that made the car almost a full inch lower. It also featured a new wraparound bumper design with the front wearing a more distinct “point” in comparison to its 1964 predecessor. A variety of trim tricks, a much cleaner grille and larger taillights were also new. The Chevelle SS Super Sport also came with a blacked out grille for the first time.
In 1965, the big news for Chevelle fans was not only a 327 cubic inch engine with 350 horse power, but the addition of the limited edition 396 cubic inch engine, known as the Z-16. With only 201 of these muscle cars produced, 200 were hardtops and only one was a convertible!
